HYM Concert Band

Conductor: Stuart Quinlan

HYM Concert Band performs a wide range of music from the classic repertoire of Malcolm Arnold and Darius Milhaud to selections from stage and screen, as well as tunes featuring vocal soloists from the band. In recent years it has visited France, Germany, Holland and Belgium. HYM Concert Band was conducted with great distinction for many years by John Malcolm and Sean McWilliam, and in 2007, Stuart Quinlan became its conductor.

Stuart Quinlan is a former HYM student. He studied at Kingston University and after graduation in 1996 he joined Billy Smarts Circus, and was offered a job in Spain acting the clown. He rejected this and now works for the Harrow Music Service. He is principal cornet of Grimsdyke Brass of Harrow, which was recently promoted to the First Section of brass bands after the area championship competition.

The recent Concert Band concert included movements from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana.

Rehearsal Times: Saturday 10am - 1pm, Hatch End High School
